Netball matches support the Teenage Cancer Trust
The event organised by members of the Melton Mowbray Netball Club aimed to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust, in memory of former player, Jola Gowing, who died last year.
The fun family day at Melton Sports Village on Sunday featured junior play for those 16 and under from (9am-1pm), over 16s’s play from (1-4pm), mix teams play from (4-7pm) and club play with families from (7-9pm).

Hide AdOne of the organisers Daisy Holland said: “We had a great time and a wonderful day. It was lovely to see so many people of different ages and abilities playing netball and having fun for a good cause.
“There were a number of visitors that turned up unannounced which was a pleasant surprise, and we had 11 teams compete in the mix team play matches.”
Helena Gowing, Jola’s sister participated during the course of the event and Jola’s parents attended to show their support. There was also a cake raffle which raised additional funds.
In total over £700 was raised on the day with around £170 being donated online to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
