Go West! Mick leads the way at Lake View Vets’ Canal match
Mick, fishing across to a tree that had fallen into the lake and down to the next platform, was into fish right from the start and it looked like he was going to be heading for a big weight.
Unfortunately, the carp stopped feeding for a while and he could only get skimmers, but he did win with a final weight of 31lbs.

Hide AdMartin Quilter, on peg 12, took a while to get the fish feeding, but eventually was into F1’s fishing close in and, with a good last hour, looked like catching Mick. However, he only had 27lbs at the scales to give him second place.
The other section winner was Brian Nicholls who had some F1’s along with two good sized carp from peg 26 which gave him a final weight of 22lbs.
Fishing Marina last Wednesday, weights were very low apart from the two end pegs where Steve Beckhurst on golden peg 12 and Gary Smith on peg 14 battled it out for first place.
Steve found the fish feeding close to an overhanging tree and using bread he took the match and the golden peg money with a final weight of 33lbs. Gary had to settle for second on the lake with 27lbs mainly taken on maggot.
